Not Falling Leaves

I quote myself from the autumn of 1963: 

     " Leaves do not fall from a dead branch. " 

Coined while walking with my date (now known as Marney Komives), neither of us had nor has the slightest idea of what it means, but we each enjoyed tossing it into too-deep conversations as an 'old saying'.
